Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe re-opens its doors with stylish new look and pork pie museum

30/09/2024

The newly renovated Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe has re-opened its doors in Melton Mowbray with the world’s first ever dedicated Pork Pie Museum.

‘Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe’ – a grade II listed building – is the oldest and only remaining pork pie bakery and shop in Melton Mowbray and the home of the traditional hand-raised Melton Mowbray Pork Pie.

In 1851 John Dickinson started selling pork pies from the shop, using his grandmother’s, Mary Dickinson’s original pork pie recipe developed in the 1790’s.

The reopening of the stylishly refurbished store, café and the new museum was celebrated in a grand opening event attended by the Mayor of Melton Mowbray and Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire.

The refurbished and expanded museum and store includes:

  • The world’s first dedicated Pork Pie Museum
  • Increased retail space, allowing even more in-house and locally sourced produce to be stocked, alongside core ranges of pies, cheeses and condiments
  • A food to go area where hot and cold products can be purchased including handmade Pork Pies and savoury and sweet pastries from their bakers, breakfast rolls, sandwiches, toasted paninis, tea, coffee and more.
  • A new seated café space, bringing back something that dates back to 1910s.

The Shoppe will also host regular events.
