Higgidy secures B Corp ethical status

Higgidy has secured the sought-after B Corp status following a robust review process, joining more than 500 other ethical brands in the UK. The brand, which has had a history of social enterprise since its beginning in 2003, showcased the value it places on purpose as much as profit and commitment to improve its performance every year.

“We’re proud to have gained B Corp certification as we strive to be a force for good in every aspect of our business,” commented CEO Rachel Kelley. “But we won’t let this accolade allow us to rest on our laurels. We will continue to work hard to prioritise the needs of our staff, suppliers, customers, local community and the environment, just as much as commercial success.”

Under the B Corp status, Higgidy will focus heavily on improving its environmental impact, with the help of its newly appointed Sustainability Manager who is starting next month.

“Higgidy is committed to continuously striving to maintain the highest environmental and social standards. Our new B Corp status both acknowledges our hard work to-date, whilst also giving our brand clear goals and objectives to always be better,” commented Kelley.

The Higgidy Helping Hand project, which launched in March 2020 to bring a touch of joy to its local community of East and West Sussex, impressed the B Corp accreditation team immensely. The project has seen Higgidy team up with eleven different charity networks and initiatives, providing over 41,000 meals to those in need, as well as continuing its long-term partnership with FareShare Sussex which began with the birth of the company in 2003.
