TASTE A SLICE OF PORK PIE HISTORY – THE TASTING ROOM LAUNCHES
The latest edition for the pork–pie curious or seasoned lovers planning a visit to England’s Rural Capital of Food in the heart of Melton Mowbray! Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe, renowned for its iconic Melton Mowbray pork pies, is thrilled to announce the opening of its much-anticipated new venture, The Tasting Room. Located in the town centre, the new seated space offers an experience celebrating the rich history and flavours of the region.
Guests of Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe will be able to experience a slice of history in the home of the Pork Pie itself. The Tasting Room, which launched on Friday 4th April 2025, will be open between 11am – 3pm, Monday to Saturday, with a carefully curated menu that makes sure this is not ‘just another café’ for our town centre.
“We’re excited to announce this final stage of the Shoppe refurbishment and bring something new and innovative to Melton Mowbray!” says Richard Griffiths, Shoppe Manager of Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe. “The Tasting Room menu offers our customers a chance to explore the full range of delicious flavours and hand-crafted pork pies in an inviting setting. Featuring the original Dickinson & Morris pork pies to Mrs King’s (Traditional, Black Pudding and Stilton), Topped Pork Pies and a vegetarian option in our Cheese & Onion Quiche.” Customers will have the chance to upgrade to a Sharing Platter to make it a real culinary feast – consisting of cheeses, scotch egg, locally baked bread and deli meats all accompanied by a fresh salad and chutney.
The Tasting Room will provide the perfect place to indulge in both traditional favourites and contemporary twists on classics for pork pie fanatics. This promises to be a destination for anyone seeking to experience the best of Melton Mowbray.
