Xmas holiday meals programme gets Samworth Brothers support
Samworth Brothers is supporting a Christmas holiday meals initiative from Leicester City Council.
Children in Leicester who receive free school meals are being invited to join a programme of activities over the Christmas holidays. The sessions – which include activities such as art, sport, ice-skating and music – will see each child take home a ‘healthy food hamper’ provided by Samworth Brothers.
Adam King from the Samworth Brothers Community Champions team said: “In total, Samworth Brothers is providing more than 700 food hampers for the programme and 1300 Christmas gifts for vulnerable children We are proud to work again alongside the Council to improve the lives of families within the local community in any way we can, especially at Christmas which we know can bring its own extra challenges.”
A team of Samworth Brothers volunteers joined others from partner, The Company Shop to support the activity, spending a couple of days picking and packing the food boxes and wrapping the Xmas gifts.
Samworth Brothers also supported a half-term school meals project in the summer by sourcing ingredients, assembling and distributing 14,000 food boxes for local Leicester children.
